Doing a defensive driving course is a great way to learn how to be safe "behind the wheel"! You will learn to identify hazards to increase your chances of avoiding a collision, and "pave the way" to being the "hero" driver in an unsafe driving situation.
The Street Talk defensive driving course (4 nights over 14 days - 2 hours per session) also allows drivers to reduce the amount of time they are required to hold a Restricted Class 1 licence from the mandatory 18 months down to 12 months.
The course is made up of 5 different sections:
Risk perception
Risk management
Self-reflection
Decision making
Goal setting & monitoring
The course has been developed by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA).
